Janice Nardi, M.S., LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 21 years clinical experience. She maintains two locations and is in private practice in Brick and Manahawkin, New Jersey. She works with individuals, couples, and families on relationship issues, mental health issues including mood disorders and chemical dependency, trauma and abuse issues, and some behavioral modification issues.
Janice has extensive experience in relationship, marital, and family counseling, and in Addiction Medicine Services. Specific to Addiction Medicine Services she has worked in Inpatient, Outpatient, and Partial Hospitalization Programs. She has written, developed, and implemented Chemical Dependency programs for both individual and dual diagnosed patients. Her services provide recovery counseling and treatment for both the individual who suffers and for the family members and significant others who love them. Janice served as a part-time faculty member at California State University, Hayward, for five years during which time she taught the requisite Chemical Dependency Theory class for graduate students seeking state licensure.
In treating trauma and abuse issues, Janice is a Level II EMDR Practioner. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly effective and efficient therapy that allows an individual to resolve trumatic experiences much more quickly than traditional talk therapies. EMDR allows clients to resolve flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, and other negative effects of trauma, in most cases, within 4-8 sessions of therapy. Janice has been a practioner of EMDR since 1995.
Additionally, Janice is a certified Hypnotherapist and she utilizes this medium for clients seeking behavior modification such as smoking cessation, weight management, stress managment, and goal setting.
